Based on one of the most popular Disney movies of all time and the Broadway musical that played for over 2,500 performances and received multiple Olivier and Tony Award nominations, “Disney and Cameron Mackintosh’s Mary Poppins” is capturing hearts in a whole new way: as a practically perfect Broadway Junior musical.

Mary Poppins, Jr. is an enchanting mixture of irresistible story, unforgettable songs, breathtaking dance numbers, as well as unique special effects and illusions.

The cast features 59 performers from first- through eighth-grade.

“It is always a challenge to bring a well-known, popular Disney movie and then stage production to life because of the high level of expectations and memories of the characters and stories,” Bridges said. “The story is charming, and the music is so upbeat and memorable, with some songs just being downright beautiful. And don’t forget that magical sparkle that Mary Poppins brings—yes, we have had a ball with this one”

The Our Lady of the Valley School Drama Department holds a Junior Troupe membership in the International Thespian Society, an honor organization recognizing achievement in the dramatic arts in schools. It has a long-standing reputation of producing quality shows with its young casts.

The Troupe has competed at the national, regional and other state festivals over the past ten years, copping a number of honors each time for its stage productions and individual events.

OLV is one of only nine schools in the State of Alabama with the Junior Thespian designation and, of those, the only one to compete regularly at the national level.
