HELENA–The 2018 senior class of Helena High School will formally be recognized at a graduation ceremony on Tuesday, May 22, but on Wednesday, May 2, the seniors were recognized for a wide variety of accomplishments.

Parents, faculty members and students all filed into the Helena High School gymnasium on May 2, to celebrate the class of 2018 during the annual Senior Awards Day Program and there was plenty to celebrate.

At the awards ceremony, faculty members recognized seniors for awards in english, mathematics, science, health science, social studies, foreign language, career technical education, fine arts, special awards, scholarship acknowledgements, military commitments individual athletic and team awards and more.

Collectively, the HHS Class of 2018 received more than $6.1 million in scholarships as of April 30, as scholarships ranged from academic, athletics, fine arts and more.

“They take great pride in the fact that they were the first group to go all four years at Helena High School,” Helena High School Principal April Brand said. “They love Helena, not that the previous classes didn’t but they truly love each other and they have poured their heart and soul into this place in every aspect. They’re very selfless and servant-minded and it’s impressive in the world today. They’re so talented across the board and they all pull for each other and I couldn’t be more proud of them.”

Helena High School senior Jace Aldrich will represent the class of 2018 as valedictorian where he will further his education at The University of Alabama.

Helena High School’s graduation is scheduled for Tuesday, May 22, at the BJCC Concert Hall at 6:30 p.m.
