Columbiana man indicted on 16 child porn charges

COLUMBIANA – A Columbiana man who was charged with 16 crimes related to child pornography was recently indicted by a Shelby County Grand Jury during its May session.

Anthony Wayne Degginger, 36, who lists an address on Pinetree Circle, was indicted on one count of possession of pornographic material involving minors and 15 counts of dissemination of child pornography.

Degginger’s indictments allege that he was knowlingly in possession of obscene matter “containing a visual reproduction of a person under the age of 17 years engaged in the act of sado-masochistic abuse, sexual intercourse, sexual excitement, masturbation, genital nudity or other sexual conduct,” and uploading multiple images using the Kik application between October 26, 2017 and Jan. 3.

Dissemination of child pornography is a Class B felony. If convicted, Degginger could face up to 20 years in prison. Possession of child pornography is a Class C felony, which can result in a maximum prison sentence of 10 years.

Degginger was originally arrested by the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office on Jan. 25. As of May 28, Degginger remains in the Shelby County Jail on bonds totaling $465,000.

After his indictment, Degginger’s case was assigned to Shelby County Circuit Court Judge William H. Bostick III. Degginger is scheduled to appear in court for an arraignment at 8:30 a.m. on July 17.
