ALABASTER – The ball is rolling, rather literally, on First Baptist Church of Alabaster’s vacation Bible school “Game On.” This year centers around the field, the track, and covers all the bases in between as a new sports theme fills FBCA.

It’s a “great way for kids to come to together with kids their own age, have fun and learn more about Christ” said Interim Children’s Minister Haley Nichols, after she was seen playing a sports related game with some children. Nichols explained that this year the church is teaching students about “gearing up for life’s big game,” by exposing students to Christ “on a kid level.” She said kids get to hear about “salvation,” and that she believes “it is broken down so well” for a child’s perspective.

Children have “special places they get to go” to daily. Kids get to “run around, play and have fun” during recreation with peers their own age. They also attend a music class, where they learn “Game On” biblical songs and dance moves. Craft time makes up another part of the day, where kids get to be creative with a craft themed around the daily lesson. Students also attend missions and learn about missionaries across the globe.

Vacation Bible school at FBCA is from June 4 to June 8 from 9 a.m. to noon and is free to all attendees. It is open to students in 4-year-old kindergarten to the sixth grade, according to the 2017 to 2018 school year. Registration is no longer available online, but parents and guardians can register children out in front of the building each morning. First Baptist Church of Alabaster is located at 903 Third Ave. N.W.
