CHELSEA – As July fourth approaches Chelsea residents celebrated with bands, bikes, booths and ended the night with a boom.

On Saturday, June 30, eventgoers gathered in an open field behind the Chelsea Dairy Queen celebrating Independence Day a little early at this year’s ChelseaFest and The Big Kaboom. This is the second year ChelseaFest was held, after combining with The Big Kaboom, a firework spectacle that has been viewed by Chelsea residents for nearly a decade, according to Mayor Tony Picklesimer.

The event featured booths with arts and crafts, food vendors, inflatables, and even a bicycle parade for the kids. Eventgoers also had the chance to listen to some rhythm and blues, as headliner, COMPOSITIONZ, performed on the main stage.

The night ended with a kaboom as an array of fireworks filled the Chelsea sky. After thanking those who “worked tirelessly,” the city’s official Facebook page said the event was “a huge success.”
