He is survived by his parents, Almarie Shults Tyson and Donald Lloyd DeFreese (Charlotte); his brothers, Travis Whitmore DeFreese and Paul Gavin DeFreese (Nun); his sister, Ann Davis (Bill); his niece, Olivia Davis; and his nephews, William Fredric DeFreese and John Andrew DeFreese.
