HOOVER – A man was killed after he was pinned beneath a tractor at his residence on the 5200 block of Riverbend Trail in Hoover during an accident that took place on the evening of Monday, July 9.

The Hoover Police and Fire Departments arrived on the scene at 11:10 p.m. and paramedics attempted to save the victim’s life. The victim was ultimately pronounced deceased at the scene.

The victim was identified as 56-year-old Kevin Michael Koziol. Koziol’s wife said he had been doing some excavation work on their property before she fell asleep.

Once she woke up, she said she realized that Koziol had not come inside and went outside to find him. She found him in their front yard.

The HPD stated that the area Koziol had been working on was on a steep grade, and it is likely that the tractor flipped after it backed into some uneven terrain. The tractor was equipped with a seatbelt and a roll bar, which were both utilized by Koziol at the time of the incident.

According to the HPD, there were no indications of foul play.
