New PCS central office projected to open August 2019

PELHAM – Pelham City Schools Superintendent Scott Coefield announced the projected completion time frame for the renovation of the old public library into the new PCS central office at a recent Board of Education meeting.

At the meeting on July 30, Coefield said the school system is expected to move into the renovated facility in August 2019.

The board passed a resolution approving the purchase of the 0.52-acre property for $1.3 million at a school board meeting on June 25. The school board will pay $10,000 monthly to the city for 10 years and 10 months at no interest.

Since its inception, Pelham’s central office has been housed on the second floor of the city of Pelham’s Water Works building.

In other business, the board:

-Approved 26 personnel actions.

-Approved $433,000 in extracurricular supplements for the 2018-19 school year for 104 teachers.

-Approved roughly $90 in academic supplements for the 2018-19 school year.

-Approved Child Nutrition Program supplements to match new School Nutrition Association Certifications levels.

-Approved a contract with Lathan Associates for architectural services for central office renovations.

-Approved affiliation agreement with Brookwood Baptist Health to provide clinical learning experiences for PCS students.

-Approved agreement with the Mental Health Board of Chilton and Shelby Counties to provide mental health services.

-Approve agreement with the DAY Program to provide instruction and support services for students in an alternative school setting.

-Approved a contract with Chantal McManus to provide visually impaired/orientation services for identified students in Pelham City Schools.

-Approved a contract with Michelle Puckett to provide occupational therapy services for identified students in Pelham City Schools.

-Approved a contract with Beth Myers to provide interpreter services for identified students in Pelham City Schools.

-Approved a contract with Birmingham Speech and Hearing Associates, LLC to provide audiology services for identified students in Pelham City Schools.

-Approved a contract with Janice Brush to provide speech/language services for identified students in Pelham City Schools.

-Approved a contract with Claire Stewart to provide speech/language services for identified students in Pelham City Schools.

-Approved a contract with Behavioral One to provide Behavior Analyst services for identified students in Pelham City Schools.

-Approved a contract with Kris Wayne Courson to provide sign language interpreting services for identified students in Pelham City Schools.

-Approved a contract with Pediatric Therapy Associates, Inc. to provide physical therapy services for identified students in Pelham City Schools.

-Approved a contract with Mary-Margaret Newland to provide speech pathology services for identified students in Pelham City Schools.

-Approved a contract with Crestwood Educational Consultants LLC to provide testing, evaluation, and consulting services for identified students in Pelham City Schools.

-Approved a bid for fiber installation at PHS fieldhouse awarded to Clear Winds Technologies.
