FROM STAFF REPORTS

CHELSEA – Chelsea Park Elementary School is a proud recipient of a $1,000 Parents for Healthy Kids grant made possible through Action for Healthy Kids and funding from ALDI.

The grant will help expand student access to physical activity and healthy foods in school, improve knowledge and behaviors around physical activity and healthy eating, and provide funding and support to parent groups as they work to engage parents and families in these efforts both at school and at home.

Chelsea Park Elementary School will use its grant to add additional playground equipment and outdoor activities to encourage play. Playing promotes brain development and improves academic performance for all students.

“We recognize the impact of physical activity and good nutrition on our students’ health and learning, as well as the power of parents to help implement successful school programs. We are excited to engage parents and create an even healthier school environment with the funding and resources from Action for Healthy Kids and ALDI,” said Jennifer Galloway, Principal of Chelsea Park Elementary School.

Chelsea Park Elementary School is one of 150 schools receiving an ALDI-funded grant along with technical support from AFHK to implement its grant in the 2018-2019 school year. For a complete list of schools funded by ALDI in the 2018-2019 school year, visit ActionforHealthyKids.org/ALDI.
