ALABASTER – Alabaster’s Kingwood Church will continue a longstanding tradition throughout the month of December, as it is set to hold several performances of its play “The Gospel According to Scrooge.”

Kingwood Church, which is near the intersection of Industrial Road and Shelby County 95, will perform the show on Dec. 7, 8, 9, 14, 15 and 16 at the church from 7-9:30 p.m. each night. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m.

Kingwood has been presenting the theatrical performance for more than 30 years.

“Scrooge, as we have come to call it, is more than just a Christmas play or great entertainment. It is a classic tale with some new twists and a great Christmas message,” reads the church’s website. “This fun event has become a holiday tradition with many, and has over 130 in the cast that is full of music, drama, lights and more. This gift to the community can not happen without volunteers from Kingwood Church.”

The event is free, but the church will be collecting an offering to help locals in need.

“Kingwood Church covers the expense of the production and only ask attendees to pay it forward by helping people in need,” according to the church. “Scrooge helps to support worthy causes like Manna Ministries (Food Pantry) who have been serving the Alabaster area for over 30 years.”

Kingwood encourages attendees to arrive early because each night often draws large crowds. Reservations are available for parties of 10-40 people by visiting Kingwood.ccbchurch.com/goto/forms/165/responses/new.

Child care is available for children 4 and younger, and opens at 6:15 p.m. each night.
