FROM STAFF REPORTS

HOOVER – Hoover Police officers are gearing up for another season of holiday shopping.

Additional officers will be on hand starting Thanksgiving Day as stores begin opening for business.

Officers will have an increased presence in retail areas and will be monitoring busy intersections through the end of the holiday season.

These officers will operate out of the Hoover Police Mobile Command Center, which will be parked in the Costco parking lot off of Galleria Boulevard.

If traffic becomes congested in the retail areas, officers will be able to make manual adjustments to the traffic flow in an effort to keep people moving to their destinations.

Other officers will focus their efforts on the safety and security of shopping centers by patrolling the parking lots and having a visible presence inside the stores.

“The Hoover Police Department is dedicated to doing our part in maintaining our city’s reputation as a first class shopping destination in the state of Alabama,” read a press release. “Don’t forget to visit our website, Facebook and Twitter pages for holiday shopping safety advice, traffic tips and much more. We wish you the best during this holiday season!”
