ALABASTER – Inclement weather has claimed its latest parade in Alabaster, as projected severe weather on Dec. 1 has forced the city to cancel its 2018 Christmas parade. It will not be rescheduled.

The announcement came about two months after severe weather also canceled the city’s homecoming parade at Thompson High School.

“The city leadership has been intently watching the latest weather reports for tomorrow, Dec. 1, to determine how that could impact the scheduled Christmas parade. After careful consideration for the safety of our citizens and visiting public, the city has decided to cancel the 2018 Christmas Parade due to inclement weather,” read a Nov. 30 post on the city’s Facebook page. “We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause for participants, however the safety of our citizens and the public is our top priority. The city of Alabaster wishes our community a very merry Christmas and a wonderful holiday season!”

The parade was set to start at 10 a.m. on Dec. 1 on U.S. 31 south.
