ALABASTER – Thompson High School was placed on lockdown “out of an abundance of caution” on the afternoon of Jan. 10, after the school received a threatening phone call, but authorities have not found any “credible evidence of any threat to students or staff.”

Alabaster Police Department said the lockdown had been lifted as of about 2:10 p.m., about 40 minutes after it began, though an investigation was ongoing.

Alabaster City Schools placed the school on lockdown after an anonymous caller to the high school “advised of a possible threat of violence at the school,” according to the Alabaster Police Department.

“APD is on scene and is investigating the situation. At this time there is no credible evidence of any threat to students or staff,” read an APD statement shortly after 1:30 p.m. “However, the school is currently under lock down as a precaution.”

“All students are safe and accounted for,” read an ACS statement. “We are working with Alabaster police to ensure school safety and following our protocol.”
