PELHAM – Pelham High School’s Miss PHS Pageant is set for Saturday, Feb. 2, and for the first time incudes a scholarship for the winner of the pageant.

Beginning at 6 p.m. in the PHS auditorium, 21 young ladies will compete for the title of Miss PHS and Junior Miss PHS.

This year, the Pelham High School Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) has joined as the sponsor for the pageant and is offering a $1,000 scholarship to the recipient of Miss PHS toward her future collegiate and professional endeavors, and a $300 in-school scholarship to the recipient of Junior Miss PHS to apply to student fees at PHS.

The theme this year is “New York, New York.” Titles of Miss PHS First Runner-Up, Junior Miss PHS First Runner-Up, Miss Congeniality and Miss Photogenic will also be awarded.

Miss PHS is an opportunity for teenage girls to grow in their professional development skills through participating in a professional interview and through speaking on stage. Ryleigh Chambers, winner of the 2018 Miss PHS Pageant who is now attending Samford University, will crown the new Miss PHS.

This event is open to the public and admission is $5 at the door. Lillian Lalo, multimedia journalist with CBS 42, and Cameron Edward, news reporter for CBS 42, will be the masters of ceremony for the pageant.
