Shelby County will see a rain-soaked week, and could even see some flooding issues, according to the National Weather Service office at the Shelby County Airport.
Through the rest of the week, storms will drop between 3 and 6 inches of rain across central Alabama, with higher amounts possible, according to the Weather Service.
“With current stream flows near to above normal and moist soil conditions across the area, many rivers and streams will experience rises from this rainfall. At this time, it appears that at least minor to moderate river flooding is likely to develop by mid-week and persist into the weekend on some area rivers,” read a NWS weather hydrologic outlook. “The rivers that are most likely to experience flooding later this week include the Tombigbee, Black Warrior, Sucarnoochee and Cahaba rivers. Depending on where and how much rainfall occurs, other river basins in Central Alabama could also be affected by flooding later this week.
“In addition to river flooding, areal flooding from prolonged rainfall or flash flooding from more intense rainfall could also become a problem later this week as soils remain saturated and periods of rainfall continue,” the hydrologic outlook continued.
After a relatively rain-free Monday, rain chances will increase to 30 percent overnight and then up to 90 percent on Tuesday. Tuesday will see a high of about 47 degrees and between a quarter-inch and half-inch of rain.

The rain will not slack up on Friday, with a 70 percent chance of precipitation and a high of about 71 degrees during the day, and a 60 percent chance of rain and a low of about 60 degrees overnight.
Saturday will see a 50 percent chance of rain and thunderstorms with a high of 74 degrees, and Saturday night will see a 70 percent chance of rain with a low around 56 degrees.
