Columbiana man indicted on 27 child pornography charges

COLUMBIANA – A Columbiana man remains in jail on multiple felony charges alleging he possessed child pornography.

Gary Justin Wilson Jr., 29, who lists an address on S and W Lane in Columbiana, was arrested Feb. 9 and charged with 27 counts of possession of child pornography.

Wilson is being held in the Shelby County Jail on a $270,000 bond.

A Shelby County Grand Jury has returned an indictment against Wilson on all 27 counts of possession of child pornography.

According to the indictment, Wilson “did on or about May 12, 2017, knowingly possess obscene matter containing a visual reproduction of a person under the age of 17 years engaged in an act of sado-masochistic abuse, sexual intercourse, sexual excitement, masturbation, genital nudity, or other sexual conduct, in violation of Section 13A-12-192(b) of the Code of Alabama, against the peace and dignity of the State of Alabama.”

A status hearing for Wilson is scheduled for Tuesday, March 5, at 8:30 a.m. in Shelby County Circuit Court.
