ALABASTER – Alabaster adults looking to take part in one of the city’s spring adult softball leagues can now register for the leagues online through the end of the month.

The city’s Parks and Recreation Department opened online registration for the spring adult leagues on March 1, and the registration portal will be open until 11 p.m. on Saturday, March 30.

In-person registration is also available weekdays from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. at the Parks and Rec office in Veterans Park off Alabama 119 now through Friday, March 29.

“Please register promptly as we will have a maximum number who can sign up in any one division due to limited field space,” according to the Parks and Rec Department.

Registration fee is $285 per team, and includes 12 games and an Amateur Softball Association sanctioning fee. The Parks and Rec office can only accept company or church checks, not personal checks.

There is a $50 late registration fee, and an $80 forfeit bond must be paid to the league’s umpire coordinator, Alan Holmes, before the season begins, which will only be surrendered if the team forfeits two games. Holmes’ number is 529-9509.

Umpires must be paid $20 cash before each game.

The following adult leagues will play in Alabaster this spring:

-Open Co-ed

-Co-ed Church

-Open Recreational

-Open Competitive

-Men’s Church

All games will be played at Buck Creek Park on the following tentative schedule: Men’s Church and Open Recreational on Mondays and Thursdays, Open Co-ed and Co-ed Church on Tuesdays and Fridays and Open Competitive on Wednesdays. Game times will be at either 6:30 p.m., 7:30 p.m., 8:30 p.m. or 9:30 p.m. The season will begin the week of April 29.

Teams can begin scheduling hour-and-a-half-long practices on Wednesdays and Sundays after March 1 after paying their entry fees.
