Spring into fun: OMSP’s egg hunt and spring market draws crowd

PELHAM – Oak Mountain State Park’s 12th Easter Egg Hunt and Spring Market on Saturday, April 6, brought residents from near and far to enjoy egg hunts, hay rides, pony rides, food trucks, vendors, inflatables and more.
Children up to 12 years old hunted more than 25,000 eggs filled with candy and toys. The Easter Bunny hopped around taking pictures with guests at no cost. There was even an egg hunt for four-legged friends.
Representatives from the Alabama Wildlife Center brought their educational raptors to the event for the pubic to meet and learn about them. Families also enjoyed playing games on the lawn and getting their faces painted.
Alabaster resident Jennifer Wyatt attended the event with her 3-year-old daughter Willa Mae Wyatt. They attended the egg hunt two years ago when Willa Mae was a year old, but they missed the egg hunt. This year, they made up for it by participating in the morning and afternoon egg hunts.
“She loved the egg hunt and the inflatables,” Wyatt said. “She also made some new friends.”
Wyatt noted that the new restrooms at OMSP are nice and spacious.
“They weren’t here the last time I came,” She said. “They’re fabulous and there’s more than enough space for diaper changes.”
Several local vendors set up shop at the event. Local craftsmen, artisans, boutiques, bakeries and brand representatives were selling Easter and spring goodies. Spring home decor was available as well.
Food truck vendors included Naughty But Nice Kettle Corn Company, Nothing But Bundt Cakes, Urban Pops, Monzy’s Deli, Fresh Churros, Dandy Concessions, Two Fat Men Catering, Tamale Queen, The Heavenly Donut Company and Red Diamond Tea.
