WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Sen. Doug Jones announced Rachel Price, a high school senior attending The Westminster School at Oak Mountain in North Shelby County, has earned an offer of appointment to the United States Air Force Academy.

Jones nominated Price to the Academy following an intensive application and interview process last fall.

“Attending a military service academy is an honor reserved for our nation’s best and brightest. Rachel Price has shown remarkable dedication to her school and community through leadership and volunteer activities, and I was proud to nominate her to attend the Air Force Academy. I have every confidence Rachel will represent the state of Alabama and our nation well,” said Jones, who serves on the Senate Armed Services Committee.

Price is a member of the National Honors Society and an active leader at The Westminster School at Oak Mountain as the captain of the girls basketball team, yearbook photographer, and set designer for all school productions. She has been successful on the court winning multiple awards for all-area, all-region, and regional MVP in the state tournament.

She trains year-round with Body Creations Inc. in Madison. Rachel has accepted her appointment to the U.S. Air Force Academy and has plans to study biology and work toward a career in sports training.

The next opportunity to apply for service academy nominations from Jones will be in the fall of 2019.
