Helena Miracle League Opening Day rescheduled

HELENA – Due to inclement weather and wet field conditions, the Helena Miracle League’s opening day celebration has been pushed back from its original Friday, April 19 date.

The inaugural season and special opening day celebration will instead take place on Friday, April 26, with an Easter egg hunt to follow.

The game is set to begin at 7 p.m. at little Joe Tucker Park in Helena where there will be food and drinks available for those in attendance and Sanchez Tanniehill will sing the national anthem. Every child or adult that participates will receive also receive a commemorative jersey.

In addition to participants, the league is also in search of sponsors for the opening day T-shirts, Gatorade and water sponsors and volunteers to buddy with each player for the game.

The Helena Miracle League’s mission is to provide opportunities for children with disabilities to play Miracle League Baseball, regardless of their abilities, promote community support and sponsorship of Miracle Leagues and promote the construction of special facilities that meet the unique needs of Miracle League players and their families.

In the future, other alternative uses for the Miracle League field in Helena could include visits from nursing home members for exercise, kickball, soccer and Special Olympics events.
