HELENA – Father’s Day is just a few weeks away and a local Helena business has a fun event scheduled where families can create memories by spending a few hours fishing on the farm.

Helena Hollow, which regularly hosts several events and parties throughout the year, will be hosting a Father’s Day Fishin’ event that will take place on Saturday, June 15 and Sunday, June 16, as tickets are on sale now.

Those who buy tickets will have the opportunity to fish at Helena Hollow lake on June 15 between 9-11 a.m. or on June 16 between 4-6 p.m.

Each ticket costs $20 and will include two hours of fishing, a “tackle box” of fishing necessities that includes a Slim Jim, plain potato chips, a bottle of water and a meal voucher. Children under the age of two will not be required to have a ticket.

Helena Hollow will not be providing bait, fishing poles and other accessories so ticket holders will need to come prepared.

Children ages eight and under will be required to wear a life jacket and guardians will need to provide a life jacket if the child is under the age of eight. The farm will have life jackets available to rent for $5 each, but only 10 will be available on a first come, first serve basis.

Other details of the event are that it is catch and release and the lake will be patrolled for safety.

Helena Hollow consists of roughly 160 acres located off Shelby County 17 in Helena and in just a few short years, the Griffin family went from hosting a birthday party for a family member on the farm, to now booking numerous parties each weekend and turning the farm into a full-blown business that includes fun events like The Patch in October, Supper with Santa late in the year, the Bunny Hop Spring Celebration and now Father’s Day Fishin’.
