Richard “Roland” Johns, age 73, of Vandiver, passed away Wednesday, June 5.

Mr. Johns was a Vietnam veteran and received two Purple Hearts during his service.

He is preceded in death by his parents, brother, two sisters, three children, and two grandsons.

He is survived by his wife, Sandra Faye Johns; sons, Cecil Blackerby, Ray Burnette, and Joe Burnette (Miranda); daughters, Debbie Blackerby and Becky Von Elling (Al); 19 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; a niece, great-niece and a great-nephew; and a multitude of extended family.

The family will receive friends Friday, June 7 starting at 6 p.m. at Vandiver Church of God. Funeral services will follow Saturday, June 8 at 11 a.m. with burial at Union Hill Cemetery.
