HARPERSVILLE – The town of Harpersville is offering free weather alert radios to residents and also will offer a free programming service to both locals and those who live outside the town.

Weather alert radios are being distributed by the Harpersville Fire Department during normal business hours.

The radios are pre-programmed by the fire department to alter users of severe weather events issued by the National Weather Service.

Residents must provide a copy of their Harpersville water bill as proof of residence.

Also, Harpersville, in association with the Shelby County Emergency Management Agency, will host a weather radio programming event at the Harpersville Community Center on Friday, June 21, from 2-4 p.m.

Harpersville residents, with proof of residency, can also receive their free radio at this event, but even those who live outside of Harpersville will have an opportunity to have their existing radio programmed.
