Jerry Haynes, age 75 of Montevallo, passed away Tuesday, July 30, at his residence.

He was born in Jefferson County on August 4, 1943; the son of the late Benjamin Thomas Haynes and the late Tranny Glenora Howard Haynes.

Jerry served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam Era. He went on to have a 44-year career as an insurance underwriter. He spent the last 22 years of that career with Thompson Insurance Agency. He was a faithful and devoted member of the Montevallo First Baptist Church. He will be remembered for his love of Jesus Christ and his family.

He is survived by his significant other, Lynda Anderson of Montevallo; son, Brent Haynes of Montevallo; son, Shane (Cheri) Haynes of Montevallo; son, Jeremy (Devin) Haynes of Bluff Park; step-daughter, Theresa Gibson of Calera; step-son, Travis (Michelle) Anderson of Montevallo; grandchildren, Tiffany, Alec, Allie, Alexis, Ashton, Harrison, and Hadlie; great grandchildren, Hannah, Kollin, Brysen, and Adyson; sister, Jeannette (Frank) Brasher of Jemison; and a host of nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his father, Ben Tom Haynes; mother, Glenora Haynes; and brother, Jimmy Haynes.

Funeral services will be held Monday, Aug. 5 at noon from the Montevallo First Baptist Church with Rev. James Hancock and Dr. Terry Sutton officiating.

Visitation will be held two hours prior to the service at the church.

A graveside service with military honors will follow at 2:45 p.m. in the Alabama National Cemetery in Montevallo.

In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial contributions be made to the Montevallo first Baptist Church Sanctuary Renovation Fund P.O. Box 46 Montevallo, AL 35115 or to the Center Hill Baptist Church Cemetery Fund 2635 County Road 25 Jemison, Alabama 35085.
