Dora Grace Frost Smith
Calera

Dora Grace Frost Smith, (90), of Calera, died peacefully in her home on Aug. 24.

She was born to Edgar and Elizabeth Frost on Jan. 13, 1929. Mrs. Smith was a graduate of Calera High School and Alabama College where she earned a bachelor’s degree in Vocational Home Economics. She first taught Home Economics in Beatrice, before becoming a Clay County Extension Agent through the Auburn University Extension Service where she worked until her retirement.

A world traveler, she often shared her experiences with family through pictures, home slideshows, and special gifts from places such as The Holy Land, China, Hawaii, and South America. She enjoyed attending college reunions at what is now University of Montevallo and church events at Spring Creek Cumberland Presbyterian Church where she was a member.

Mrs. Smith was affectionately called “Sis” by her family and friends. The importance of her family and her desire to document their special times is evident in the vast amount of pictures that she took of them.

She is survived by her sister, Julia (Hal) Wilson; her aunt, Zemma Sproul; her nieces and nephews, Nena (Tom) Sanders, James (Jeanise) Frost, George (Angie) Lum, Elizabeth (Rusty) Richardson, Phillip Wilson, Karen (Kevin) Caton, William (Ricketta) Wilson; several great-nieces and great-nephews and devoted caregivers.

Reverend Scott Fowler will be officiating the funeral service.

Pallbearers will be Tom Sanders, James Frost, George Lum, Rusty Richardson, Phillip Wilson, Kevin Caton, and William Wilson.

The funeral is scheduled for Wednesday, Aug. 28 at 11 a.m. and the family will receive visitors at 10 a.m. before the funeral at Rockco Funeral Home (Montevallo). Burial will follow at Reynolds-Randall Cemetery in Montevallo.

The family requests any memorial donations be directed to Spring Creek Cumberland Presbyterian Church, 3411 Spring Creek Road, Montevallo, AL 35115.
