ALABASTER — Alabaster City Schools’ 2019 Homecoming Celebration has been set for Wednesday, Sept. 18.

The theme of the parade is “Honoring the Past, Preparing for the Future,” and the Grand Marshal is Peggy Kent, who works in the main office at Thompson High School.

The celebration will begin with the annual Homecoming Parade at 6 p.m. This year’s parade will follow a new route. It will travel around Thompson High School, beginning near the back parking lot, and go around Warrior Parkway to the new stadium.

The floats will travel down the center of the road, so both sides of the road will be used for viewing. The night will continue with a Community Pep Rally at the stadium starting around 7 p.m. and ending with a firework show.

Parking will be available on the THS campus and overflow parking will be available at the TMS campus located on Warrior Drive. A shuttle will run continuously from the overflow parking lot to the parade location from 5:15-5:45 p.m. The pick-up and drop-off locations will be at the TMS side parking lot beside the gym entrance/flagpole and the THS fountain. The shuttle will begin running again to return guests to the overflow parking lot after the parade, and services will end 30 minutes after the fireworks.

The back entrance of the THS campus will only be used for float traffic and participant drop off. It will not available for public use and traffic will be one way only. The entrance of the THS campus will close at 5:55 p.m. to allow the parade to begin. If you are not on campus by 5:55 p.m., you will not be able to enter until the parade route ends.

Float registration is open. Register by going to Acsboe.org/Domain/10 or by visiting Acsboe.org and selecting Thompson High School under “Select a School.”
