Charlotte Mae Ferguson Foley

Charlotte Mae Ferguson Foley, born on May 17, 1931, passed away Sunday, Sept. 1.

She was a native of Birmingham, graduated from West End High School, and attended the University of Montevallo.

Charlotte is survived by her loving husband of sixty six years, Milton J. Foley; her three children, Stephen J. Foley, Michael L. Foley, Charlotte A. Foley Phillips; and five grandchildren, Jesse T. Foley, Natalie M. Phillips, Mary Kathryn Phillips, Charlette Joy Foley, Christopher Jade Foley.

Charlotte was a patient and unselfish person who will be sorely missed by all her knew her well. Charlotte was a master of many handicrafts. She taught original hooked rug classes at the Birmingham Museum of Art and the continuing education division of the University of Montevallo. Her original rugs appeared in the book Rugs. She sold her work under the title “Charlotte’s Collection.”

Charlotte did volunteer work with the cub scouts, the girl scouts, and the W.D. Partlow Development Center. She was chosen as volunteer of the year in the city of Montevallo for organizing and being in charge of a food bank there.

She was a member of St. Thomas The Apostle Catholic Church in Montevallo. A funeral mass will be celebrated there for the repose of her soul at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, Sept. 4. Visitation at 10:00 AM the same day.

She has left us physically, but she will not be forgotten. We deeply mourn her passing but are consoled by Jesus, who conquered death.
