PELHAM – For those that enjoying playing cornhole, while also supporting a good cause, will have the opportunity to participate in an upcoming cornhole tournament in Pelham later this month.

Two by Two Animal Rescue will host the cornhole tournament on Saturday, Sept. 21 from noon to 8 p.m. at Geaux Play Sports Training and Fitness in Pelham.

This tournament is a certified Alabama Cornhole tournament and players will have the free option to earn season points.

All teams must check in by 12:30 p.m. the day of the tournament and walk-up registration also closes at 12:30 p.m. The tournament will begin at 1 p.m.

The tournament will help support Two by Two Animal Rescue as the cost to enter the tournament is $40 per team.

The top teams will receive cash or donated prizes and all teams are guaranteed three matches at minimum.

Two-by-Two Animal Rescue is a 501 C (3) no-profit, no-kill organization. Two-by-Two began in 2002 when Sonya Smith began feeding strays in Old Town Helena, according to their website.

She noticed another concerned citizen had been leaving food for them too and placed a note in a bowl. The note was found. They met and combined their efforts to rescue the many stray dogs dodging traffic.
