COLUMBIANA – Shelby County residents with unwanted trash and debris should save the date for the second free landfill day of the year.

The free landfill day will take place at the landfill located at 401 Landfill Road just off Shelby County 70 between Columbiana and Calera.

The day is set for Saturday, Oct. 5, from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. All participants must be unloaded and exited by 3:30 p.m.

In an effort to assist Shelby County residents with their fall clean-up projects, the Shelby County Commission has designated this as a free day to dispose of yard and household debris.

Shelby County Development Services-Landfill Division asks that residents cover and secure their loads while traveling to the landfill to prevent litter and trash from being deposited along the roadside.

The free day is for Shelby County residents only. All commercial, business, or out-of-county customers will be charged the standard rates.

For any questions, call Shelby County Development Services-Landfill Division at 669-3737.
