PELHAM – An annual golf tournament hosted by Pub 261 on Sept. 8 yielded thousands of dollars in donations for Easterseals of Birmingham, a nonprofit that provides assistance and services for people with disabilities.

Nearly 100 golfers played in the tourney that took place at the Heatherwood Country Club, said Pub 261 co-owner Mike Sarvaunt. Pub 261 treated those in attendance to lunch at the pub following the tourney.

The event raised just over $12,000 for Easterseals. The money raised through the tourney will go to the organization’s pediatric clinic located in Pelham.

The clinic provides several therapies, including speech-language, occupational, physical and pediatric feeding. The organization also works with the families of children with disabilities.

This year marked the pub’s ninth year hosting a golf tourney and its third year sponsoring Easterseals. Thirty-six entities sponsored the event and Bama Budweiser was the top donor.
