Geraldine Conwill Waldrop

Geraldine Conwill Waldrop, age 78, passed away peacefully Monday, Sept. 23 in her hometown of Vincent, surrounded by her loving family.

The visitation will be from 1:30-3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 29 at the First Baptist Church Vincent. The funeral service will follow at 3 p.m., at the church with Dr. Karen Joines and Dr. Darryl Wood officiating. Burial will follow at Vincent Cemetery. Bolton Funeral Home is directing.

Born on May 10, 1941, to Albert Lawrence and Louise Ledbetter Conwill, Geraldine’s life was filled with love for the Lord, her family, her church, and her countless friends.

Geraldine is preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Willis Houston Conwill.

She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Jerry Waldrop; her brother, the Honorable H.L. “Sonny” Conwill (Diane); her children, Lisa Waldrop Shattuck (Cooper) and Lawrence Lane Waldrop (Carrie); her nieces, Leslie Conwill Corts (Chris), Dana Waldrop Fite (Tommy), and Wendy Waters Burnette (Jesse); and her nephews, Jeffrey Lane Waldrop (Angie) and Jerry Scott Waters.

Surviving grandchildren are Aneliese Jordan Waldrop and Conwill Alexander (Conner) Waldrop and surviving grand-nephews, Conwill Hewitt Corts and Thomas Edward Corts.

She loved and leaves behind a host of aunts and uncles, cousins, former students, co-workers, and friends.

A lifelong member of First Baptist Church Vincent, Geraldine was a vital part of the music ministry alongside dear friend Sherry Donahoo Elliott. Together, they provided music for their congregation for over fifty years.

A retired teacher in the Shelby County School System, Geraldine taught at Vincent High School and Vincent Elementary School for thirty years. Following retirement, she worked for the Town of Vincent as an assistant clerk until the time of her death.
