David Randall Alverson

David Randall Alverson, age 65 of Shelby, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 2 at his residence.

He was born in Clanton on Aug. 15, 1954; the son of the late James Marvin Alverson and Opal Mae Johnson Alverson.

He was a custodian for the Shelby County Board of Education, with most of his service being at Columbiana Middle School.

He is survived by his daughter, Michelle Rood of Calera; son, Timothy R. Alverson of Calera; grandchildren, Aspen Alverson of Montevallo, Damon Gans of Calera, Justin Tate of Calera, Trevor Garren of Shelby, and Alana Alverson of Montevallo; mother, Opal Alverson of Shelby; brother, James D. Alverson of Shelby; and sister, Linda Davis of Calera.

He is preceded in death by his daughter, Janet Garren; father, James M. Alverson; and sister, Deborah Cost.

Visitation will be held Friday, Oct. 4 from 6-8 p.m. at Ellison Memorial Funeral Home in Clanton.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Oct. 5 at 11 a.m. from the Chapel of Ellison Memorial Funeral Home in Clanton.

Burial will follow in the Shelby Memory Gardens in Calera.

The family would like to express their appreciation to Becky Baker and the staff of Comfort Care Hospice in Pelham, and to Lynne Hanson, Dr. Kerry Rush, and Mary Cooper for all their assistance to David.
