PELHAM – The city of Pelham and the Alabama Department of Transportation have authorized an agreement for a bridge replacement project at the latest Pelham City Council meeting on Sept. 23.

The bridge replacement project is located at the bridge on Shelby County 52 West over Buck Creek near the Chevron service station.

The plans of the agreed project include alignment, profile, grades, typical sections and paving layouts, according to a copy of the resolution agreed upon by the city of Pelham and ALDOT.

The resolution also states that the city of Pelham agrees to perform all maintenance on crossroads, service drives or relocated roads that are not designated federal or state highways or county roads that are in the jurisdiction of the city. In addition, the city agrees to perform all maintenance on grade separations along the roadway to the end of the bridge, or the denied access fence.

The timeline for completion of the project is unknown at this time.
