Goggins receives RSVP award at Hall of Fame ceremony

Marshall Goggins was presented the RSVP Award at the Alabama Senior Citizens Hall of Fame ceremony held on Sunday, Aug. 18, at First Baptist Church in Montgomery.

A photographer for 30 years, Goggins designed a photo board paying tribute to Alabama’s fallen warriors who have died since 9/11.

Goggins has devoted nearly 400 hours to the photo collection of more than 240 names and faces.

He has traveled throughout the state with the exhibit and visited many of the families of the fallen and attended military events.

Goggins is actively involved in numerous military organizations and events, which includes support committees for the Alabama National Cemetery in Montevallo, Wreaths Across America.

The Blue Star Salute Foundation, Veterans Day activities, Memorial Day at the Alabama National Cemetery and Keep the Spirit of ’45 Alive, which celebrates World War II veterans.

Goggins is a recipient of the Presidential Volunteer Service Program Gold and Lifetime Achievement Award, RSVP Volunteer Spirit Award and Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve Seven Seals Award.

Created by the Alabama Legislature in 2008, the Senior Citizens Hall of Fame is part of the Alabama Department of Senior Services.

Its purpose is to bestow honor and recognition upon Alabamians for their outstanding accomplishment, service and contributions to the lives of older Americans.
