PELHAM — Staff members of Yates Constructors and Engineers have been engineering a way to feed those in need during the holidays. Company employees in Yates’ Birmingham office designed and constructed a 10-foot tall deer made entirely of canned food that, when dismantled, will be donated to Oak Mountain Mission Ministries.

“Their creativity highlights the need for food in our community and celebrates the joy that comes from giving of oneself to help others,” said Roddy Cooper, Director of Oak Mountain Mission. “We are so grateful for the generosity of the Yates team.”

The annual food drive challenges Yates offices throughout the country to collect and donate to charities in the communities where they work.

Founded in 2001, Oak Mountain Mission Ministries is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that provides food, clothing, household items and financial assistance to those in need in the Greater Birmingham area. Individuals are referred to the mission from domestic violence and homeless shelters, faith support churches and social service agencies. Last year, Oak Mountain Mission provided varying forms of assistance to families 6,490 times and the need for support is continuing to grow.
