MONTEVALLO – Five players finished with at least eight points, while three finished in double figures to lead Montevallo to a 40-point victory to kick off area play in front of the home crowd on Tuesday, Dec. 3.

The Bulldogs got 18 from Jamarius Carter and 13 apiece from Jabrian Sullens and Michael Jones to take down Indian Springs 72-32 and improve to 4-3 (1-0) on the season.

Montevallo’s dominant effort came on both ends of the floor, as the Bulldogs held Indian Springs in check offensively and scoring 20 or more in three quarters of action on the offensive end themselves.

The impressive night started in the opening quarter when those three double-figure scorers combined for 18 points to lead the Bulldogs to a 20-point period. Carter and Sullens each hit three baskets for six points, while Jones also added six points with two made 3-pointers.

Defensively, Montevallo gave up six made field goals and 12 points, but that effort was more than enough to give the Bulldogs an eight-point lead heading to the second quarter.

And that’s when they busted open the game.

Montevallo didn’t just play well in the second period, the Bulldogs dominated it, holding Indian Springs to just one point, while they had their best offensive quarter of the game with 22 points.

The Bulldogs used a more balanced effort on the offensive end with seven different players scoring in the frame, while DonAnglo Evans and Jones led the way with five each.

That strong effort gave Montevallo a hefty 42-13 lead at the halfway mark of the game.

From there, the Bulldogs didn’t let up coming out of the locker room, as the offense put together another 20-point quarter in the third. They got eight more from Carter, while Sullens added five more. Jones, Kavonte Britton and Chase Ramsey combined for the other seven points in the quarter.

Defensively, Montevallo didn’t have the same one-point performance from the second quarter, but the Bulldogs held Springs to just 13 points. And while that was the highest mark of the game, it wasn’t nearly enough to keep them from extending Montevallo from extending its lead to 62-26 going to the final frame.

The final quarter saw the least amount of action with the Bulldogs looking to close the game out. They posted 10 more points thanks to 3-pointers from Britton and Kial Cottingham, while Indian Springs could only add six more points, leading to the final score of 72-32.

Behind the three scorers in double figures, Britton posted nine for Montevallo, while Ramsey added eight. In addition to his dominant night scoring, Carter added seven rebounds and five blocks.
