Peyton Abernathy, age 15, of Calera, passed away Sunday, Jan. 12.

The visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 16 at Calera Baptist Church. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m., Friday, Jan. 17 at the church with Rev. Daniel Brown and Chaplain Paul Byrd officiating. Bolton Funeral Home is directing.

Peyton is preceded in death by his aunt, Misty Darden.

He is survived by his mother, Michelle Abernathy; father, Jerry Abernathy; sister, Grace Abernathy; grandparents, Alvin and Mary Darden and Tommy and Sharon Burton; stepmother, Laura Abernathy; half siblings, Shelby Abernathy, Wesley Abernathy, and Jesse Thomas; uncles, Jon Darden (Mary) and Jonathan Abernathy (Tiffany); aunts, Jennifer Tortorigi (Jeremy) and Jill Abernathy; nephews, Brantley K., Brantley B., and Ryder; great grandmother, Jewel Davenport; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

The family requests that everyone to wear happy colors.

In lieu of flowers, donation can be made at Central State Bank to cover funeral costs.

A special “Thank You” to all of his amazing nurses, doctors, and staff at Children’s of Alabama for loving and caring for him. He loved you all.
