HELENA – On a frigid night in Helena, the Helena Huskies played host to the Oak Mountain Eagles. The Eagles entered the game coming off a three-game winning streak, while the Huskies looked to bounce back from a 15-5 bruising from the Hoover Buccaneers.

The Huskies held Oak Mountain scoreless through the first inning, and wasted no time jumping on the Eagles during their first at bat picking up seven runs on five hits to take an early 7-0 lead.

Seth Gregory started on the mound for the Huskies, and held the Eagles scoreless through three innings, before Oak Mountain scored one run in three consecutive innings. But that still wasn’t enough to threaten Helena, as the Huskies found three more runs to close out the 10-3 win.

Leaders for Helena’s offense included Riley Marks who went 3-4 with two RBIs and a run, McGwire Turner who went 2-4 with an RBI and a run, JC Wilburn who went 1-4 with two RBIs and a run, Will Griffith who went 1-3 with two RBIs and a run, Brody Moss who went 2-3 with an RBI, and Luke Stamba who went 1-5 with 2 runs and a stolen base.

Leaders for Oak Mountain’s offense were Gillespie who went 1-4 with a run, Evers who went 2-4 with an RBI and a run, and Campbell who went a perfect 3-3 with a run and an RBI.

Seth Gregory picked up the win for the Huskies, tossing 67 pitches through four innings, striking out two, and giving up only one run. Gavin Daniel came in to relieve Gregory and close out the game for the Huskies throwing 51 pitches through three innings, striking out one batter, and giving up just two runs.

The Eagles utilized four pitchers through six innings including Cole Sester, Luke Smith, Stephen Moraski and Grant Sutton. Moraski was the sole Oak Mountain pitcher to pitch throw two complete innings. In total, the four pitchers combined for seven strikeouts and six walks, but gave up 10 runs on 10 hits.
