CHELSEA – Chelsea’s archery park will be more comfortable for visitors thanks to the effort of a local Scout.

The Chelsea City Council at its meeting on Monday, March 2, recognized local Boy Scout Jared Roshaven for his contributions to the park that were part of an Eagle Scout project.

Roshaven, with help from family and friends, built two bench structures for the park, which is located adjacent to the Chelsea Community Center.

The structures also facilitate a water cooler and trash can, and on the side are hooks where archers can hang their bows while they rest.

“These things, they are awesome, and we appreciate it very much,” Mayor Tony Picklesimer said to Roshaven. “Your Eagle Scout project will be remembered and used in our city for years to come.”

In other business, the Council:

• Awarded Nick Grant funds for five schools located in the city for second-semester funding requests. The grants total $194,702.20.
• Accepted a proposal from Livestream for upgrading the video system for the Council Chambers. The video system is used to stream Council meetings to Facebook. “We will be dramatically upgrading our Facebook Live experience for our City Council meetings,” Picklesimer said.
• Heard about several upcoming events: A Chelsea Historical Society meeting on April 26, Be Well Shelby Family Fun Day March 7, Coffee with the Mayor of Chelsea on March 24 and Fire at the Foothills on April 4.
• Approved a proclamation declaring the week of March 15-21 as National Safe Place Week.
• Approved an alcohol license application for Lounge Retail Liquor–Class 2 (package) for HAT Enterprises Inc. doing business as Liquor Hub (Citgo gas station) located at 16585 U.S. 280, Suite A.
