Donald Gothard, age 86, of Columbiana, passed away Tuesday, March 3.

The visitation will be from 6-8 p.m., Thursday, March 5 at First Baptist Church of Columbiana. The funeral service will be Friday, March 6 at 2 p.m., at the church with Dr. Mike Miller officiating. Burial will follow at Pinelawn Gardens. Bolton Funeral Home is directing.

Donald was the past president of the Alabama State Singing Convention and a board member to the Alabama School of Gospel Music.

Donald was preceded in death by his wife, Kyle Gothard; daughter, Leslie Brechin; parents, John and Jewel Gothard; sisters, Audrey Cox, Betty Dunnam; brother, Bobby Gothard.

He is survived by his son, Tony Gothard (Denise); daughters, Donna Smelcer (Bobby) and Samantha Carden (Paul); granddaughters, Lisa Lemley (Adam), Dorie Greene (Russell), Tonya Leigh, and Lindsey Richardson (James); grandsons, Christopher, Dexter, Clinton, and Drake Carden, Robert Smelcer (Anai), and Donnie Brechin (Brooklyn); great grandchildren, Andrew Gothard, Tanner Greene, Noah Lemley, Aubrey Greene, Jackson Leigh, Tony Leigh, Layla Smelcer, Marlie Greene, Leslie Richardson, Levi Smelcer, Skyleigh Carden, and Liam Richardson; and brother, Pete Gothard (Pricilla).
