HOOVER – With supplies low across the country for medical professionals and others who need personal protective equipment, Christ Church United Methodist next to Spain Park off Caldwell Mill Road in North Shelby County will be hosting a PPE drive April 4-5.

“We are collecting items on behalf of the Physician Mom Group Birmingham, who will then make sure the supplies are distributed to the areas in Alabama with greatest need,” said Discipleship Minister Nancy Markham.

The drive will take place from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday and will be a drive up and drop off event.

“We have volunteers there that will keep their social distancing and direct people on what to do,” Markham said. “People will be asked to put their donations in designated donation boxes and we will have hand sanitizer on site.”

Markham said other drives like this had been done by the Physician Mom Group had been done at other sites and had seen success.

Items they are in need of are N95 masks, brown bags to store N95 masks, surgical masks, gowns, shoe covers, face shields, head covers and reusable goggles.

The church is located at 5091 Caldwell Mill Road.
