COVID-19 case prompts temporary closure of Columbiana bank

COLUMBIANA – The Columbiana branch of Regions Bank closed temporarily for a thorough cleaning March 31 after staff learned a person who had spent time in the branch tested positive for COVID-19.

“Regions’ top priority is the health and well-being of our customers and associates,” Senior Vice President, Public Relations and Publishing Manager Jeremy King said. “Regions’ cleaning procedures are based on guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).”

The branch reopened April 1 for drive-thru service only in accordance with the company’s announcement earlier this month that in-person branch-banking services are temporarily limited to either drive-thru service during regular hours or in-office service by appointment only to help reduce the spread of the novel coronavirus.

The Columbiana branch will be staffed by associates from other Regions facilities for the next two weeks, as the associates who were in the branch during the potential exposure have been placed on a two-week paid quarantine leave of absence, King said.
