HELENA – In light of the rapidly developing COVID-19 (Coronavirus) and its effect on public gatherings, organizers of Helena’s Buck Creek Festival have elected to reschedule this year’s event to October 23-24.

Festival organizers have been monitoring the situation closely since the crisis first hit our area and have determined that it would be in the best interest of guests, performers, volunteers and event partners to reschedule to a date when the spirit of the festival could be embraced.

“Helena’s Buck Creek Festival is intended to be a family-friendly community event,” said HBCF President Scot Newman. “Because of that, we couldn’t responsibly host this year’s festival under the current conditions. We’ve decided to postpone instead of cancel, to try and help our vendors and performers recover from the financial impact that the coronavirus social distancing guidelines have had on their businesses.”

This year’s event was going to mark the 19th annual Buck Creek Festival, and was originally supposed to take place between May 8 and 9 in the first year under a new committee.

With the event being such a big tourist attraction for the city and local charities, committee officials wanted to make sure the event was rescheduled.

“As Helena’s premiere annual event, Helena’s Buck Creek Festival makes a profound impact not only on our city’s tourism, but also on the local charities who benefit from the festival’s proceeds,” said HBCF Vice-President and Helena City Council member Laura Joseph. “Plus, I think this will give us something to come out and celebrate together as a community.”

Efforts are currently being made to confirm the vendors and artists which had been previously scheduled to attend, and organizers are still accepting new vendors and sponsors for this year’s event.
