PELHAM — Restaurants are among the businesses that have had to make big adjustments to survive in the midst of the novel coronavirus pandemic. Some of them, like Texas Roadhouse, have altered their business model to meet the needs of the public.

The Texas Roadhouse Pelham location is offering ready-to-grill steak kits that can be prepared at home, as well as fresh produce items such as potatoes to help meet the demand brought on by the virus—especially in response to grocery store shortages.

“Sales is number one, but it’s really about getting our people back to work,” said Management Partner Brian Donegan. “We keep getting better every day.”

Donegan said 95 percent of the menu is still available. Perhaps the most promoted takeout item is the ready-to-grill steak kit, which includes meat, seasonings and directions for consumers to cook at home.

Texas Roadhouse is offering a variety of cuts, including ribeye, New York strip and sirloin. Pork chops will also be available for purchase.

“The decision to sell steaks was based on demand from guests. Restaurants are a vital part of our nation’s food supply and we’re stepping in where we can to help fill any gaps,” said Travis Doster, Texas Roadhouse vice president of communications.

Donegan also said the restaurant’s downloadable app can make ordering online more convenient for customers. He encourages people to order that way, although those without the availability of the app may also call the restaurant or order directly from the website.

“We’re really trying to push the app right now,” Donegan said.

Customers do not even have to leave their cars to pick up food orders, which can be combined into a Family Value Pack of four meals each including entrées, large salad, four side dishes, fresh baked rolls and honey cinnamon butter. Entrée options include cheeseburgers, grilled chicken, chicken critters, pulled pork, beef tips, sirloin steaks and ribs.

Texas Roadhouse is open Monday through Thursday from 3-8:30 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 12-9 p.m. and Sunday from 12-8 p.m.
