MONTEVALLO – An employee at Montevallo City Hall has tested positive for COVID-19, according to an update posted on the City of Montevallo’s Facebook page on Monday, April 13.

Anyone who enters City Hall is asked to wear a mask, frequently wash his or her hands and follow all other appropriate COVID-19 precautionary measures.

“Our meetings will remain open to the public as required by state law,” the post read. “However, we will also strictly adhere to the governor’s mandate of no more than 10 people gathering in one place while maintaining adequate social distancing.”

For the city’s larger boards, this could mean as few as one member of the public being allowed in the chamber at a time.

For City Council meetings, public seating most likely will be limited to five people.

The city is working to make all meetings available through its Facebook page.

During the citizen participation parts of the meetings, public comments will be accepted in writing via the chat feature.

Those who would like to present something to the City Council or other boards or commissions are urged to email it ahead of time to City Clerk Herman Lehman at hlehman@cityofmontevallo.com.
