HELENA – The City of Helena recently updated its website to improve design and functionality to provide a better user experience for residents.

The update was suggested by City Council Member Brian Puckett when reviewing the cities expenses.

“Our website at the time was outdated in look and feel,” Puckett explained. “When technology improves at the rate that it does websites are usually outdated after fiver years. So I did some research and we looked at three companies who do websites for small towns for the best deals.”

Puckett’s proposal outlined that the old website had many problems that created the need for an update. Some issues included mobile responsiveness, ADA compliance, issues with pages on the site and a generally outdated look.

The redesign proposal also had the added benefit of combining the formerly separate webpages for the city, utilities, Parks and Receration, Police and Fire Departments into one easily accessible website.

The city approved the proposal and selected a company called TownWeb to head the redesign.

“Really what we did was make it easy and simple for our residents to use,” said Puckett. “Now it is a site where people can be proud of it when they use it and want to show off their town.”

The new website has been up and running for a few weeks now and is going to be consistently updated with news and information to keep the residents of Helena informed.
