PELHAM — Pelham City Schools has begun kindergarten registration for the 2020-2021 school year as of Monday, May 4, and will continue holding registration until May 22.

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the registration process, which is normally conducted on school campuses, has been transitioned to an online format, announced Pelham City Schools Communications Manager Nicole Knight.

Whereas parents and children typically visit the school they are zoned to attend to begin the registration process and later complete registration via an online portal, this year the process is being somewhat reversed. The online portion will instead be handled first—along with uploading each child’s birth certificate, Knight explained.

Other details will be announced later.

“Some of the typical activities that take place during kindergarten registration, such as proof of residence verification and a kindergarten student assessment, will likely take place at Kindergarten Camp over the summer,” Knight said. “Kindergarten Camp dates are to be determined and will be set based on health guidelines.”

A link to registration information is available on the district’s website at Pelhamcityschools.org/for_parents/enrollment___registration/kindergarten_registration.

For general updates about the new school year throughout the remainder of the spring and summer months, parents and guardians may visit Pelhamcityschools.org, in addition to individual school web sites and social media pages.

“Parents will also be notified of important information and events via the email address submitted during online registration,” Knight said.
