“Mrs. Yancey, we’re excited about you,” Assistant Superintendent of Instruction Dr. Lynn Carroll said, adding the BOE would like to have Yancey back when in-person meetings resume.

Congratulatory messages for Yancey poured in on social media shortly after Shelby County Schools shared the news on its Facebook page May 14.

Yancey has worked in public education for more than 14 years.

In addition to her previous role as assistant principal, she has served as program area specialist in secondary education for Shelby County Schools.

A VMHS alumna, Yancey holds a bachelor’s degree in English, a master’s degree in secondary education and instructional leadership, and an educational specialist degree in teacher leadership from the University of Montevallo.
