Weaver appointed regional director for Dept. of Health and Human Services

ATLANTA – April Weaver was appointed by the White House to serve as regional director for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services in Region IV.

As a presidential appointee, Weaver provides regional executive leadership as the primary representative for the Secretary of Health and Human Services, Alex Azar.

Region IV, based in Atlanta, Georgia, includes the states of Alabama, Georgia, Florida, Mississippi, Tennessee, Kentucky, South Carolina and North Carolina.

Regional Director Weaver brings leadership experience in both public service and the private sector to HHS. Prior to her appointment, she served 10 years as an accomplished state legislator in the Alabama House of Representatives, including five years as the chair of the House Health Committee.

A registered nurse who holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in business administration, Weaver worked for over 23 years as a hospital leader in various management roles in urban, suburban and rural hospitals.

“I’m honored to have this opportunity to serve our country and to continue my public service in my new position at HHS,” said Weaver. “I am eager to get to work supporting the initiatives of President Trump and Secretary Azar as well as the mission of the Department of Health and Human Services.”
