CHELSEA – The city of Chelsea’s annual festival and fireworks event drew hundreds of people to the large field behind Dairy Queen on Saturday, June 27.
The 2020 Chelsea Fest and The Big Kaboom “went off without a hitch,” according to Mayor Tony Picklesimer.
“We were very pleased with the turnout,” Picklesimer said. “There were a lot of people there, but the (social) distancing was adhered to very well.”
The band Trotline returned as the event’s headliner, and Nacho Daddy once again served as the opening act.
Food vendors stayed busy serving customers throughout the event.
“We got great reports out of the food trucks,” Picklesimer said, and added, “We’re so glad we did it. It was very smooth. We didn’t have the traffic issues we normally have.”
In keeping with tradition, fireworks lit up the night sky to cap off the event.
As the city’s Independence Day celebration, Chelsea Fest and The Big Kaboom is held on the Saturday before the Fourth of July every year.
